IANNIS XENAKIS RELOADED introduces the musical universe of the Greek composer to children and young percussion players from the Manresa Conservatory. Xenakis’ music is extremely varied. Much of it is developed using a self-designed softwared called UPIC, or pattern systems such as those used in his main percussion pieces (Psappha, Persephassa, Rebonds or Okho), and which are a benchmark for new music, particularly computer music and compositional systems. In the project Iannis Xenakis Reloaded the different patterns that the author used in his percussion works are taken to develop a system of modules adapted to different music student levels. The aim is to create a new piece in the Xenakian style, and to give new life to the old patterns through the ears and the creativity of the students. The project is led by composer Agustí Charles and teacher Ramon Torramilans.
The final concert including the works of the students will take place on 7 October 2022. Read more here.
