Les Métaboles brings together professional singers who are committed to the repertoire for a cappella choir. Their name, inspired by a composition by Henri Dutilleux (1916-2013), written around the idea of metamorphosis, evoking the choir’s ability to transform itself according to the repertoire. Les Métaboles devotes a great deal of attention to contemporary composers by commissioning works, creating and performing the repertoire of living composers.
At ManiFeste festival 2024, a whirlwind spreads from image to music. Danish composer Simon Steen-Andersen has devised an ultra-virtuoso collage in which the orchestra, jazz band, and vocal ensemble present in the hall play with a series of living archives – a profound and disarmingly funny journey into musical memory. A portrait of the artist as a player in a hurry.
