Since the late 1970s, Composer Christina Kubisch has been exploring electromagnetic sounds all around the world. She has developed an online archive especially for Ultima with recording from these ‘Electrical Walks’. At the Deichman Bjørvika library, Kubisch and musician and sound engineer Tom Thiel will animate a workshop where participants young and old are invited to create their own compositions based on Kubisch’s sound archive. An online mixer will later be added to the Electrical Walks homepage. During the day at Deichman, it will also be possible to walk around the library with special headphones and listen to the building’s electromagnetic sounds. This event is free.

NB: The Electrical Mixerspace is connected to Stromsänger, a piece by Kubisch for vocal ensemble and electromagnetic sounds from the city of Trondheim and performed at Ultima by Trondheim Voices on 21 September 2023.
