In-Situ/City: To be in the margins is to be part of the whole
In-Situ/City: Oslo is presented by Curating Lab, formed by David Cariano Timme, Sally Riahi, Shaon Bedannita Mukherjee, Faduma Mohamud, Luis Félix, Kristine Utne Stiberg and Lisa Teige. The Curating Lab participants share an interest in different types of sound and music, inclusivity and wide representation of voices in culture. They have taken part in a year-long course for young curator aspirants organised by Ultima in partnership with the European network Sounds Now.
To be in the margins is to be part of the whole represents their efforts to bring to fruition the experiences and discussions addressed during the course. There is no single target audience for the events, which will take place at Gamle Munch and outdoors in the Tøyen Square. Instead, multiple art forms and perspectives are presented in a way that involves and includes local businesses, public and organisations and venues, old and young. Artists and activities featured include Vjolla Emiri, Ilavenil Vasuky Jayalapan, the train ride Gebrokken, Tøyen Orchestra with Harald Johannessen and David C. Timme, street dance collective B16, a hands-on workshop and performance with Venus Ex Machina, Viktor Bomstad and Ruhail Qaisar’s noise-centered sound collaboration, percussionist Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, a the community kitchen, and an afterparty featuring Amuleto Manuela, NAGAVER and back-to-back DJs.
