The ULYSSES network supports several emerging European ensembles, programming concerts where a new repertoire is promoted, thanks to commissions and reruns. Ensemble KOMPOPOLEX is a trio based in Wrocław (Poland) specialising in contemporary music. The musicians are primarily committed to new, engaging, bold pieces and are happy to swap their traditional instruments for cables, keyboards, objects, props, dance, voice, vocals, and more.
Ensemble Kompopolex is composed of percussionist Aleksandra Gołaj (she not only performs with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra, but is a guest in various formations at relevant festivals of new music), accordionist Rafał Łuc (he has premiered more than 80 works for his instrument and has played with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta and the NFM Philharmonic Orchestra, amongst others), and composer and electronic musician Jacek Sotomski, who will be represented with his own work.
Other pieces by Polish composers, as well as a composition recently premiered at the Warsaw Autumn Festival by the 2018 Kranichsteiner Music Prize winner from Norway, Martin A. Hirsti-Kvam, complete this programme, along with another work in the fields of performance-action-music-theatricals by composer-performer Neo Hülcker.
