At impuls Festival 2025, the ULYSSES Platform supports percussionists SeongYeon Kong and Antonio Gaggiano as part of their ULYSSES Journeys in the two events below:

1) TRIOS. QUARTETS. QUINTETS…

Works by young composers participating in the impuls Academy this year are the center of attention tonight. The compositions, partly also sketches, have been selected in advance through various Calls for Scores, such as for the Trio Accanto line-up (Özkan Umutcan Bapbacı, Yuri Demetz, Frej Wedlund, Sungtae Paek) and for saxophone trio, quartet and quintet (Gaia Aloisi, Dror Binder, Tina Geroldinger, Changjin Ha, Chih-Yun Wang, Frej Wedlund). At the Academy they underwent discussions and feedback rounds, and in an intensive exchange with the young musicians on spot and of course the active support of the impuls coaching team, a number of them are now ready to be presented.

2) TRIO ACCANTO SPECIAL PROGRAM

With Trio Accanto, impuls is hosting one of the most prestigious chamber music formations dedicated to contemporary music. The trio has premiered more than 100 works and now offers the rare chance to composition participants of impuls 2025 to work with them.

Trio Accanto first makes a call for scores amongst the composer participants of impuls 2025. From the pieces handed in, Trio Accanto  then makes a selection to a) work on one or more pieces with the composer during the impuls Academy, leading possibly also to a performance at the impuls Festival and b) offer readings respectively giving feedback also to the other composers on their works as submitted.

Furthermore compositions handed in might also be considered for being worked on by young musicians in formations participating in the Academy under the guidance of Trio Accanto.
