ULYSSES Journeys for Composers – IEMA@impuls

07/2023 impuls – AT

impuls welcomes the IEMA-Ensemble 2022/23, who is actively taking part in the impuls Academy in 2023 with various activities. In addition to profiting from impuls’ versatile offers, finding support from conductors such as Johannes Kalitzke, meeting up with composer-tutors and other coaches as well as young Academy participants from all over the world, IEMA-Ensemble 2022/23 presents itself with its individual musicians at the impuls MinuteConcerts on July 29th, but of course also as an ensemble. At its first concert on July 27th, the ensemble will, among other things, premiere a new composition by Alex Paxton (commissioned by IEMA, impuls and Gaudeamus) as well as two new works by Ulysses Journey Composers Adrian Mocanu and Maria Vicenza Cabizza. On August 1st again, after having worked intensively with composer conductor Beat Furrer, the ensemble will perform his work Akusmata together with the vocalists of Cantando Admont and young singers on spot.

Two more calls organised by impuls, one for compositions for trio up to the full ensemble instrumentation, one for the ensemble plus vocalists, complete the program and will lead to readings as well as performances.

Date and venue: 27 July + 1 August 2023, MUMUTH, Lichtenfelsgasse 14, 8010 Graz, as well as individual presentations of musicians at various locations in Graz during the Festival
