Every year, Ultima organises a festival day with experimental music, just for children. BUD, or Ultima’s Children’s Day, includes performances, concerts, workshops and stories in which children are the makers, performers, participants and protagonists.
From the marble staircase to the Gullbaren, many spaces are connected by set designer Christina Lindgren’s decorative stream made from recycled plastics reclaimed from the sea. Performances and activities include:
The Pond: Concertfeaturing light projections and music improvised onrecycledobjects.
Čázevulošnieida– Undervannsjenta (The Underwater Girl): Dance, textiles, joik, sea soundsand live drawing based upon the Sea Sami story The Mermaid.
BITWaves: Record the sounds of flowing and dripping water in glasses, bowls etc, then use them to make your own composition using the BITWaves app.
Underwater Stories: Rumbles from the deep! Meet sea creatures like cod, a walrusand a long-finned pilot whale named Roland, and listen to stories from musicians whose job is recording nature noises you rarely get to hear.
Glasspill: Mini-concerts and workshop where you learn how to play music using drinking glasses.
