Since 2012, and thanks to the support from the Creative Europe Programme, the ULYSSES Network has been dedicated to the promotion of young talented artists in the field of contemporary music. In reaction to the pandemic and the difficulty to organise physical gatherings, the ULYSSES Network proposed a series of online seminars directed to young artists, focussing on specific topics related to the development of their international career. The positive feedback received from our young artist community has motivated us to continue with the series, even after the end of the pandemic.
For each meeting, one or more invited speakers shortly presents a specific topic, and opens the floor to give the participants the occasion to discuss this topic together, to address questions and share their personal experiences. At the end of each meeting, an « Open Space » allows some of the participants to present their own projects and to exchange with their fellow artists.
#17 Tuesday 22 April, 12.15 – 14.00 CET
Topic: Remote Connections – Co-Creation Across Distances
This digital forum explores artistic collaboration through online platforms, examining how technology can facilitate sustainable and eco-friendly ways of creating music collectively. Participants will gain insights into artist-driven initiatives and practical tools for creative co-creation, regardless of geographical distance. Following three short presentations from invited contributors, there will be an open dialogue and exchange of experiences, allowing ULYSSES artists to share their own projects.
Presentations:
Speakers:
Bilge Serdar Göksülük, postdoctoral researcher at RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion
Aleksander Tidemann, Senior Engineer at the Department of Musicology, University of Oslo
Bjørnar Habbestad, curator, composer and performer in Lemur
This online session is part of a larger 3-day digital event organised by ULYSSES partner Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, Nordic Music Days and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, titled Compose, Listen, Sustain! The event explores how environmental awareness and sustainable perspectives can open new pathways in music and sound art practices.
